About

Ely Cheikh Mohamed Vadel

Journalist, field producer and fixer based in Nouakchott, working with international media, companies and travellers across Mauritania.

I have worked since 2020 as a fixer and field producer for international newsrooms and documentary teams in Mauritania — from Nouakchott and the Atlantic coast to the Adrar, the Senegal River valley, the Sahel border regions and the Sahara. Assignments have covered security, migration, fisheries, climate, culture and social affairs.

I hold a BA in English Studies from the University of Nouakchott and work in Arabic — including the Hassaniya dialect — French and English. That combination lets me move between a ministry, a fishing village and a nomadic camp on the same day, and translate not only words but context.

The same network and planning discipline now serve companies and delegations exploring Mauritania, and travellers who want to experience the country with the right preparation.

Alongside this work, I founded Atlantic Friends (أصدقاء الأطلسي), a registered Mauritanian environmental association working on marine and coastal protection along the Atlantic coast.

A few lines are enough. I will reply with the questions that matter and an honest view of what it takes.
